THE WHO, WHAT, WHY, AND HOW OF TERRORISM ARE EXPLAINED IN THIS BROAD AND GENERAL TREATMENT OF THE SUBJECT.
Abstract
TYPES OF TERRORISTS AND THEIR RATIONALES OR CAUSE CELEBRES ARE IDENTIFIED WITHOUT SPECIFIC MENTION OF ANY GROUPS OR PHILOSOPHIES. ALTERNATIVES TO TERRORISM AVAILABLE TO THE GOVERNMENT ARE DISCUSSED IN GENERAL TERMS. THE U.S. GOVERNMENT'S RESPONSE IN THE FORM OF THE CABINET COMMITTEE TO COMBAT TERRORISM IS EXPLAINED. THE AUTHOR (WRITING IN 1972) PREDICTS THAT TERRORISM WILL INCREASE IN THE FUTURE UNLESS A SUCCESSFUL COUNTER TERRORIST MOVEMENT CAN BE DEVISED.
