Abstract
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM WERE CLARIFYING ROLE EXPECTATIONS IN POLICE-COMMUNITY RELATIONS, FACILITATING COMMUNICATION BETWEEN POLICE AND CITIZENRY, CRIME PREVENTION, MEETING SPECIFIC LOCAL NEEDS, PREVENTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRIMINAL CAREERS, FACILITATING THE RESOLUTION OF PROBLEMS OF DISTRESSED PERSONS AND ANTICIPATORY CRISIS PREVENTION. THE FORMATION OF NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS FOR ESTABLISHING A CONTEXT FOR COMPLAINTS AND COMMUNICATION WAS A PART OF THE PROGRAM. THERE WAS EMPHASIS ON COOPERATIVE LIAISONS BETWEEN THE POLICE AND THE CITIZENRY IN ATTACKING SPECIFIC PROBLEMS.
