THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PROBATION AND PAROLE WORKER IN CARRYING OUT THESE FUNCTIONS IS LIMITED BY COMMUNICATIONS AND STATUS PROBLEMS BETWEEN THE WORKER AND THE JUDGE AND BY THE CONTRADICTORY NATURE OF THE WORKER'S BASIC ROLE.
Abstract
THE PROBATION AND PAROLE WORKER (THESE FUNCTIONS ARE COMBINED IN WEST GERMANY) MUST FILL THE ROLES OF AUTHORITATIVE SUPERVISOR AND SOCIAL EDUCATOR OF HIS CLIENT'S BEHAVIOR. THESE CONTRADICTORY ROLES LIMIT HIS EFFECTIVENESS IN HIS INTERACTION WITH THE COURT. THIS INTERACTION, FURTHERMORE, NEEDS TO BE DEFINED MORE PRECISELY IN THE CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE. --IN GERMAN
