This investigation describes the characterization of two related compounds found in the extract of human postmortem liver.
Abstract
One of the compounds was proven to be xylometazoline, a nasal decongestant, while the other was deduced by mass spectrometry to be a hitherto unknown imidazole metabolite of xylometazoline (2-(4-tert-butyl-2, 6-dimethylbenzyl)-2-imidazole). The quantity of the possible metabolite greatly exceeded that of the drug. 4 figures, 5 references. (Publisher abstract)
