Abstract
TOPICS COVERED RANGE FROM THE BASIC CIVIL RIGHTS OF PRE-TRIAL DETAINEES TO MINIMAL STANDARDS FOR HEALTHY AND HUMANE TREATMENT WHILE BEING HELD. AMONG THE RIGHTS DISCUSSED ARE THE RIGHTS TO FREE AND UNCENSORED SPOKEN AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION, THE RIGHT TO MEDICAL ATTENTION AND SANITARY SURROUNDINGS, THE RIGHT TO MAINTAIN PERSONAL SAFETY AND HYGIENE, AND THE RIGHT TO PREPARE AN ADEQUATE DEFENSE. LITIGATING A 'JAIL SUIT' IS ALSO EXPLAINED.
