SURVEY ON THE VALUE OF THE VARIOUS SECTIONS OF THE REPORT IN TERMS OF USEFULNESS FOR APPROPRIATE OR ACCURATE RECOMMENDATION OF DISPOSITION.
Abstract
SEVENTY MINNESOTA PROBATION OFFICERS WHO DEAL WITH YOUNG OFFENDERS RANKED SECTIONS ON THEIR OWN PERCEPTION OF RELATIVE IMPORTANCE, AND FOR HOW THEY ANTICIPATED THE COURT WOULD VIEW THEM. THE LARGEST GAP BETWEEN THE OFFICERS' EVALUATION AND THEIR INTERPRETATION OF THE COURT'S PERSPECTIVE WAS ON PRESENT OFFENSE DATA. THEY THOUGHT THAT THE COURT WOULD CONSIDER THIS PART THE MOST IMPORTANT, WHILE THEY RANKED IT FOURTH.
