Abstract
DISCUSSED ARE THE NEED FOR EXPERT, NOT LAY, WITNESSES, THE EXAMINATION OF QUESTIONED HANDWRITING, STANDARDS FOR COURTROOM TESTIMONY BY QUALIFIED DOCUMENT EXAMINERS, AND TRIAL PREPARATION FOR THE DOCUMENT EXAMINER AND THE TRIAL COUNSEL (MILITARY PROSECUTING ATTORNEYS). ALSO CONSIDERED ARE THE DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED WITH EXEMPLAR MATERIAL AND THE NECESSITY AND IMPORTANCE OF A PRE-TRIAL CONFERENCE BETWEEN THE PROSECUTOR AND THE DOCUMENT EXAMINER.
