Information and data are presented for the Oregon Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), which is administered by the Oregon Health Authority, Injury & Violence Prevention.
Abstract

The PDMP email address is provided, along with the website address of the home page. Contact information is provided for the PDMP Program Coordinator and the Program Manager. Statistics for 2016 cover the state population (4,093,465), DEA registered prescribers (22,834), and DEA registered dispensers (712). PDMP technological capabilities are reported for ASAP versions accepted; data transmission methods allowed; required data transmitters (pharmacies in-state and out-of-state, Veterans Administration, and Indian Health Services); data collection, storage, generation, and access; data sharing; data access; and patient matching. Prescription drugs monitored are controlled substances in schedules II, III, and IV, as well as pseudoephedrine. Significant dates for the PDMP pertain to enabling legislation (July 2009) and becoming operational (June 2011). Collection frequency is 3 days, even if no monitored drugs were prescribed. Sources are listed for statutes and rules relevant to PDMP policies and procedures. All PDMP information is purged after 3 years. Select data fields available are listed, along with miscellaneous capabilities and policies. Drug prescribers and dispensers are required to enroll with the PDMP, and drug dispensers are required to query patient prescribed drugs. Pharmacists with authority to prescribe pseudoephedrine products must query the PDMP prior to issuing such a prescription. Training in the use of the PDMP is available, but nor required, for drug prescribers and dispensers. PDMP reports available to selected requestors are listed, and reports authorized for production by requestor type are indicated.
