This publication is targeted toward people who are concerned that their child might be kidnapped, or has been kidnapped, by a former spouse, partner, or other family member in the wake or marital or family problems.
Abstract
The booklet advises parents to have available recent color photographs of the child and parents, a list of scars or unusual physical characteristics, two sets of the child's fingerprints, and lists of passports and financial assets, as well as telephone numbers and addresses of the spouse's relatives and friends. These items should be placed for safekeeping at the homes of two different friends. The booklet outlines steps a person should take if he or she believes the marriage is in trouble and that the other spouse might attempt to abduct the child and leave the country. To prevent a kidnapping, the book describes what a parent should do concerning the child, in court, after a court order is issued, and concerning assets. Finally, the author deals with steps the parent must take if the child is missing or may have been kidnapped. 19 notes
