This presentation previews the central issues which the North Carolina Legislature will consider in regard to prison overcrowding and alternatives to costly building programs.
Abstract
Viewers are taken to several prisons, from crumbling Craggy Prison in the North Carolina mountains to the modern Wake Advancement Center. Inmates and superintendents talk frankly about prison conditions -- the availability of drugs, the idleness, and the impact of 'crime school' on less hardened offenders. The cost of prison also is examined, with comments from victims, law enforcement officers, legislators, etc., included.
