REPORT OF A STUDY TO POINT OUT NEEDED CHANGES IN THE ENTRANCE LEVEL AND IN-SERVICE PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MARYLAND, POLICE OFFICERS.
Abstract
MINIMUM MEDICAL CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEFECTS WHICH ARE SUGGESTED CAUSES FOR REJECTION OF APPLICANTS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE SET FORTH. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ENTRANCE LEVEL STRENGTH AND AGILITY STANDARDS ARE PRESENTED. THE REPORT ALSO DISCUSSES A BASIC PHYSICAL FITNESS TRAINING PROGRAM AND GRADUATION STANDARDS FOR A RECRUIT TRAINING PROGRAM. APPENDED MATERIAL INCLUDES RESULTS OF A SURVEY OF MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF OTHER NEIGHBORING POLICE DEPARTMENTS AND AN ILLUSTRATED PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST. THE APPENDIXES ALSO CONTAIN RESULTS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE 1971 SURVEY OF VARIOUS POLICE DEPARTMENTS IN THE UNITED STATES, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO PERSONNEL SELECTION PRACTICES.
