Forecasts indicate that Washington's prison population may double by 1995, and that admissions will exceed releases throughout the forecast period.
Abstract
The proportion of violent inmates in prison will increase from 1982 through 1995, and this will accelerate the obsolescence of existing prison space. Primary components of the prison population forecast include the sex and age structure of the 'at risk' population, conviction rates by type of crime, the judicial decision to imprison, length of stay by crime type, and rate of parole violations by crime type. Graphs and tables comprise the report.
