A STUDY OF THE IMPACT THAT THE BREADWINNER'S IMPRISONMENT HAD ON 59 AUSTRALIAN FAMILIES AND A REVIEW OF LITERATURE ON FAMILY CRISIS.
Abstract
THE EFFECTS OF IMPRISONMENT ON THE FAMILY ARE DESCRIBED IN TERMS OF ECONOMIC HARDSHIP, NEW ROLES, CHANGED RELATIONSHIPS AND STIGMA. IT WAS FOUND THAT NOT ALL FAMILIES EXPERIENCED A CRISIS, BUT THAT THIS PHENOMENON WAS IN PART DEPENDENT ON HOW CRISIS WAS DEFINED. THE APPENDICES INCLUDE THE RATING QUESTIONNAIRE COMPLETED BY THE WIVES AND A BIBLIOGRAPHY.
