THE ONLY WAY IN WHICH PRISONS CAN ESCAPE THE ONUS OF FAILURE IS BY ABANDONING THE REHABILITATIVE MISSION.
Abstract
IT IS ARGUED THAT WIDESPREAD BELIEF IN THE REHABILITATIVE FAILURE OF PRISONS IS NOT JUSTIFIED BY THE EVIDENCE. REASONS FOR PERSISTENCE OF THE BELIEF ARE SUGGESTED. IT IS ARGUED THAT THE BELIEF IN REHABILITATIVE FAILURE WILL CONTINUE EVEN IF PRISON REFORMS ARE INSTITUTED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
