THIS ARTICLE ATTEMPTS TO PROVIDE PROBATION OFFICERS WITH PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS ON THE TREATMENT AND COUNSELING OF EXHIBITIONISTS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
Abstract
PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS WHICH MAY AFFECT THE EXHIBITIONIST'S BEHAVIOR ARE EXAMINED, AND TYPICAL PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF THE EXHIBITIONIST ARE REVIEWED. TECHNIQUES OF BUILDING RAPPORT WITH THE EXHIBITIONIST AND COUNSELING THESE TYPES OF OFFENDERS ARE OUTLINED. THE RELEVANCE OF PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT IN A PROGRAM OF PROBATION SUPERVISION IS DISCUSSED AS WELL. FINALLY, THE EFFECT OF THE REACTIONS OF PARENTS AND WIVES ON PROBATION TREATMENT IS EXAMINED, AND SUGGESTIONS ARE MADE ON INVOLVING THESE SIGNIFICANT OTHERS IN THE TREATMENT OF THE OFFENDER.
