THE LITERATURE REVIEW COVERS A WIDE RANGE OF TOPICS, INCLUDING TRENDS IN PROBATION, PERSONNEL, PRESENTENCE INVESTIGATIONS, PUBLIC ATTITUDES AND PUBLIC RELATIONS, AND LEGAL ASPECTS OF PROBATION. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO INNOVATIVE AREAS OF PROBATION SUCH AS PROBATION SUBSIDY, DIFFERENTIAL CASELOADS, USE OF VOLUNTEERS IN PROBATION, AND CLASSIFICATION OF OFFENDERS.
