GENERAL CRITIQUE OF INSTITUTIONAL 'TREATMENT' PROGRAMS IN VENEZUELA DESIGNED TO AID INMATE POST-RELEASE ADJUSTMENT AND REINTEGRATION, AND THEIR EFFECT ON INMATES AND ON SOCIETY IN GENERAL.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR NOTES THAT ALMOST ALL THE ELEMENTS OF PRISON LIFE MILITATE AGAINST THE SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL AND OCCUPATIONAL REHABILITATION OF PRISONERS, AND THAT INMATE TREATMENT, IN MOST CASES, IS LIMITED TO BEING FED, CLOTHED, AND KEPT BUSY. THE NEED FOR INDIVIDUALIZED REINTEGRATION THERAPY AND HIGHER PRIORITY FOR THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMS IS EMPHASIZED. --IN SPANISH
