This final project report describes the measures and methods used in the Process Assessment of Correctional Treatment (PACT) Project, in which baseline and prospective during-treatment data were collected from a serial cohort of 429 felony probationers remanded to a 6-month modified therapeutic community in Texas in 1998.
Abstract
The 429 probationers were primarily male (70 percent), black (48 percent) or white (39 percent), and had never been married (43 percent). About 60 percent were between 17 and 34 years of age, with an average age of 32 years. Indicators of during-treatment process and therapeutic progress were based on program records, evaluations, and interviews. Data were obtained on drug dependence, psychological problems, psychological and social functioning, and treatment motivation. Extensive information that could be used to inform program changes was collected, and the project highlighted important assessment areas. 54 references, 8 tables, and 6 figures
