Abstract
THIS DESCRIPTION OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA'S SYSTEM OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION IS ORGANIZED BY THE THREE MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM, POLICE, COURTS, AND CORRECTIONS. COVERAGE UNDER EACH COMPONENT INCLUDES STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL AGENCIES, AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND THEIR RESPECTIVE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN THE COMPONENT. THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM EMPLOYS MORE THAN 15,000 PERSONS IN STATE AND LOCAL AGENCIES. SEPARATE TREATMENT IS GIVEN TO EACH OF THE STATE'S SEVEN HIGH CRIME AREAS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
