This Program Performance Report (PPR) examines key findings of the Correctional Systems and Correctional Alternatives on Tribal Lands (CSCATL) program, whose main objective is to assist in the planning, renovation, and construction of correctional facilities and facilities that serve as alternatives to incarceration for juvenile and adult offenders on tribal land, as well as the exploration of community-based alternatives that prevent and control jail overcrowding due to alcohol and other drug-related crime.
Abstract
Of the operational grantees examined in this PPR, two completed their projects (one renovation and one construction), and four planning grantees submitted Master Plans to the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), the grant administrator. Thus, six grantees (16 percent) completed the "end product." In the past 6 months, grantees implemented or improved new rehabilitation-based programs, including alternative education programs (23 percent), physical health services (23 percent), treatment programs (21 percent), and probation services (21 percent). 2 tables and 7 figures
