Abstract
The institute accomplishes its mission by designing and sponsoring criminal justice research, developing improved technology and recommending action programs for criminal justice agencies, evaluating action programs, and disseminates the results of its studies and development efforts to accomplish technology transfer. The institute's budget for fiscal year 1974 is $40,098,000. It will fund research and program development related to community crime prevention, juvenile delinquency, police, courts, and corrections. Specific projects will focus on crime prevention through environmental design, the fencing of stolen goods, violent crime, gambling, crime victims, security alarms, portable personal alarms, street lighting, property identification, and standards.
