Abstract
THE GOALS OF PROJECT CARES (COLUMBUS ARMED ROBBERY ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM) INCLUDE REDUCING THE INCIDENCE OF ROBBERY IN COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, MINIMIZING THE NUMBER OF INJURIES IT CAUSES, AND REDUCING PROPERTY LOSS DUE TO ROBBERY. FOLLOWING A BRIEF INTRODUCTION WHICH COMMENTS ON THE BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT CARES, THE AUTHOR PRESENTS A SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM OF A TYPICAL CARES ALARM UNIT, ITS INSTALLATION, AND OPERATION. DISCUSSION OF PROJECT METHODS AND PROCEDURES FOCUSES ON TARGET POPULATION TRAINING, TRAINING OF TACTICAL UNIT PERSONNEL, AND PROJECT PUBLICITY. THE QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE MEASURES APPLIED TO EACH OF THE SPECIFIC GOALS ARE PRESENTED. COMMENTS ARE MADE ON THE PROJECT STATUS AND THE EXPECTED EFFECTIVENESS OF CARES ALARM UNITS. THE APPENDIX CONTAINS EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS, WARRANTY INFORMATION, AND PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS.
