A PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT WHICH MEASURES THE PROGRESS OF THIS ALTERNATIVE GROUP HOME FOR ADJUDICATED DELINQUENTS IN ACHIEVING ITS STATED OBJECTIVES, INDICATING SATISFACTORY IMPLEMENTATION OF OBJECTIVES AT THIS TIME.
Abstract
PROJECT MORAD IS A GROUP HOME FOR MORRISON COUNTY YOUTH BETWEEN THE AGES OF EIGHT AND EIGHTEEN YEARS. IT IS INTENDED FOR YOUTH WITH RELATIVELY MINOR, BUT ADJUDICABLE, BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS WHO WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVELY TREATED BY KEEPING THEM IN THE COMMUNITY. PROJECT FACILITIES, STAFF, AND HISTORY ARE DESCRIBED. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT ARE TO PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE TO PROBATION OR COMMITMENT TO A STATE INSTITUTION, TO PROVIDE A FAMILY-TYPE SETTING FOR YOUTH, TO REDUCE NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR IN YOUTH THROUGH TREATMENT AND COUNSELING, AND TO RETAIN YOUTH IN AN EDUCATIONAL SETTING. OTHER GOALS ARE TO ACT AS A TRANSITIONAL RE-ENTRY HOME FOR YOUTH, TO CORRELATE ALL AGENCIES DEALING WITH YOUTH, AND TO PROVIDE FOLLOW-UP GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING. ADMISSION PROCEDURES AND PROGRAM STRUCTURE ARE DETAILED. IT WAS FOUND THAT MOST OF THE OBJECTIVES HAD BEEN MET AT THE TIME OF EVALUATION. HOWEVER, SINCE NO JUVENILES HAD AS YET COMPLETED RESIDENCY AND THE PROGRAM HAD NOT YET ACCEPTED YOUTHS ON A RE-ENTRY BASIS, OBJECTIVES FOR FOLLOW-UP GUIDANCE AND TRANSITIONAL AID WERE NOT FULFILLED.
