Abstract
An intervention framework is presented that can enhance the likelihood that adverse and traumatic work experiences will enrich the personal and professional lives of those responsible for protecting and safeguarding others and increase confidence in the planning to deal with emergencies and disasters. Chapter 1 discusses posttraumatic psychological stress and perspectives on resilience and growth. Chapter 2 presents routes to posttraumatic growth through cognitive processing. Chapter 3 focuses on a trait approach to post-trauma vulnerability and growth. Chapter 4 discusses hardiness training for resiliency and leadership. Chapter 5 discusses hardiness as a resiliency resource under high stress conditions. Chapter 6 details team resilience. Chapter 7 presents ways of training for resilience.
