This is an addendum to proposals and contributions from governments for the United Nations General Assembly Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration of a Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime.
Abstract
The proposals and contributions pertain to consideration of the additional international legal instrument against illicit manufacturing of and trafficking in firearms, their parts and components, and ammunition. The proposals and contributions refer to (among other things) scope, making of firearms, preventing the reactivating of deactivated firearms, general requirements for export, import and transit licensing or authorization systems, exchange of information, confidentiality, definitions, purpose, criminalization, record keeping, marking of firearms, cooperation, registration and licensing of brokers, export certificates, export attachments, import certificates, in-transit shipment authorizations, confiscation or forfeiture and brokering. The following countries submitted proposals and contributions: Belgium, China, Colombia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, South Africa, United Kingdom, and United States. Notes, appendix
