THE PROPOSED JOB DESCRIPTION GIVES A DETAILED LIST OF DUTIES WHICH A TRIAL COURT ADMINISTRATOR MAY BE ASKED TO ASSUME. A PROPOSED CODE OF ETHICS, WHICH EMPHASIZES INTEGRITY OF THE COURT OPERATION, IS ALSO INCLUDED.
Abstract
THE TWO DOCUMENTS RECEIVED TENTATIVE APPROVAL AT THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF TRIAL COURT ADMINISTRATORS ON APRIL 26, 1978. FINAL ADOPTION WAS SCHEDULED FOR LATER IN 1978. THE JOB DESCRIPTION COVERS THE SELECTION OF THE TRIAL COURT ADMINISTRATOR, DUTIES, THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE JUDICIARY AND THE ADMINISTRATOR, AND THE ADMINISTRATOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PERSONNEL SELECTION AND TRAINING, RECORDS, DATA PROCESSING MANAGEMENT, FINANCIAL AND PROPERTY MANAGEMENT, CASEFLOW MANAGEMENT, AND JUROR MANAGEMENT. IT ALSO DETAILS THE ADMINISTRATOR'S RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE COURT'S RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY, PRESS, AND OTHER UNITS OF GOVERNMENT. ADMINISTRATORS MAY ALSO HANDLE COMPLAINTS CONCERNING COURT OPERATIONS. EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS ARE COVERED. THE CODE OF ETHICS EMPHASIZES AN ADMINISTRATOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO THE INTEGRITY AND INDEPENDENCE OF THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM. (GLR)
