COMMITTEE URGES EACH STATE TO ADOPT ACCURATE AND COMPLETE STATISTICAL SYSTEMS TO FACILITATE MANAGEMENT OF ITS APPELLATE COURTS AND THEIR WORK LOADS.
Abstract
SINCE A STATISTICAL SYSTEM CAN AND SHOULD BE DESIGNED TO SERVE A VARIETY OF PURPOSES, IT IS NECESSARY TO COLLECT AND ANALYZE A VARIETY OF DATA. THE COMMITTEE CONSIDERS IT NECESSARY THAT EVERY APPELLATE COURT COLLECT THE FOLLOWING DATA - TIME FOR COMPLETION OF CASES, COMPOSITION AND DISPOSITION OF CASELOAD, AND INVENTORY OF PENDING CASES.
