A LOOK AT THE STATUS OF PRESECUTION IN WYOMING IN REGARD TO THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE SYSTEM AND THE PROBLEMS FACED BY THE SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE REPORT EXAMINES THE CONSTITUTIONAL AND STATUTORY BASIS FOR PROSECUTION, THE STRUCTURE AND FACILITIES OF PROSECUTORS' OFFICES, AND PROSECUTOR COMPENSATION POLICIES. PROSECUTORIAL DISCRETION, THE ROLE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, AND THE COSTS OF PROSECUTION ARE ALSO CONSIDERED. ALTERNATIVES FOR CHANGE IN THE PROSECUTOR SYSTEM ARE SUGGESTED. RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDE THE CREATION OF A SYSTEM OF FULL-TIME PROSECUTORS ELECTED THROUGH A NON-PARTISAN BALLOT.
