The article scrutinizes a concept of "psychological re-adaptation" of special police unit officers as part of psychological rehabilitation in the post-conflict period and schematically shows the structure of psychological rehabilitation, the essence of social-psychological and psycho-pedagogical activities.
Abstract
The author believes that it is psychological re-adaptation that should be used to support the officers of special police units without mental disorders after their return from conflict zones. Their psychological problems may evolve from the secondary stress of peaceful life caused by lack of understanding between them and their close environment, lack of willingness to adjust to the customs and requirements of peaceful life, as well as a lack of ability to adequately apply their newly acquired skills and knowledge. The drive of self-actualization and loss of motivation for personal meaning arising out of their usual life style and conditions are considered to be the main mechanisms having the most significant impact on the successful outcome of psychological re-adaptation of special police unit officers in the Russian Federation during a post-conflict period. Psychological rehabilitation includes physical exercises, business games, and training of social-psychological and psycho-pedagogical orientation, with elements of independent work (self re-adaptation), as well as group and individual psycho-correctional work, coaching, and various methods of self-regulation. These techniques for the post-conflict period psychological rehabilitation are included in the "Program of psychological re-adaptation and self re-adaptation of special police unit officers in the Russian Federation during a post-conflict period".
