Abstract
This brochure from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Program, National Medal of Valor Office, provides information about public safety officers that have received the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor. This award is the highest national award given to public safety officers, and is awarded to those individuals who have exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in the attempt to save or protect human life. In order to receive this honor, public safety officers are nominated by the chief executive officer of their employing agencies, recommended by the bipartisan Medal of Valor Review Board, and cited by the Attorney General of the United States.
