THIS REPORT, DATED OCTOBER 1976, PROVIDES ARCHITECTURAL PLANNING AND SPACE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION ON THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY (FL) COURTHOUSE WHICH HOUSES A CIRCUIT COURT OF GENERAL JURISDICTION AND A COUNTY COURT.
Abstract
THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY (FL) POPULATION OF 45,800 IS SERVED BY THE CIRCUIT COURT WHICH HANDLES A CASELOAD FOR 1.4 JUDGES WITH ONE RESIDENT JUDGE AND SEVERAL JUDGES WHO VISIT ON A PART-TIME BASIS, AND THE COUNTY COURT WHICH HANDLES A CASELOAD FOR 0.8 JUDGES WITH ONE RESIDENT JUDGE. THE REPORT PROVIDES SPACE USE GUIDELINES BASED UPON COMPILED DATA AND ANALYSIS OF COURTHOUSE PHYSICAL FACILITIES AND SPACE NEED PROJECTS. RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDE CORRECTIONS IN SIZE, LAYOUT, ACCESS, FURNISHINGS, AND LOCATION OF VARIOUS COURTHOUSE FACILITIES TO MEET SHORT-TERM NEEDS OF 5 YEARS AND RELOCATION OF NON-COURT OFFICES OUT OF THE COURTHOUSE TO ACCOMMODATE LONG TERM NEEDS OF 25 YEARS.
