This quarterly report for the Illinois Department of Corrections (October 1, 1995) presents tables of statistics on adult and juvenile inmates and institutions.
Abstract
One table presents the number of residents for each adult correctional facility as of August 31, 1995, followed by a table that shows the capacity and resident population for each of 11 community correctional centers. Allocated floor space per resident is also shown for each of 26 correctional centers. Another table shows the number and percentage of residents in each facility that are single-celled, double-celled, or multi- celled. Other tables for adult facilities report the ratios of security guards and total employees to residents in each facility, the projected adult prison population for each of the succeeding 12 months following each reporting date, the status of all capital projects currently funded, current capacity levels in each facility and the projected capacity of each facility 6 months and 1 year following each reporting date, and the classification of each facility's residents by the nature of the offense for which committed. Data also address adult institutional intake, exits, and transfers for fiscal years 1994 and 1995, as well as educational and vocational programs provided at each adult facility and the number of residents participating in each program. Data on juvenile facilities encompass number of residents for each of six institutions as of August 31, 1995; the approximate square feet per resident for each facility; the number and percentage of residents that are single-celled, double-celled, or multi-celled; projected populations; status of all capital projects currently funded; and the projected capacity of each facility 6 months and 1 year following each reporting date. Other juvenile statistics address the number of residents in each institution by the nature of the offense committed, the ratio of security staff and total employees to residents in each facility, and educational and vocational programs and number of residents participating in each program.
