THE AUTHOR EXPLORES SUCH TOPICS AS DISCRIMINATORY LAWS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT POLICIES, THE DISPROPORTIONATE REPRESENTATION OF CHICANOS, BLACKS, AND NATIVE AMERICANS IN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS, RACE RELATIONS IN PRISONS, AND THE RISE OF CULTURAL AND ETHNIC PRISONERS GROUPS. PRISON REBELLIONS SUCH AS THOSE AT SAN QUENTIN, THE TOMBS, FOLSOM, AND ATTICA, THE POLITICIZATION OF PRISONERS, AND ATTEMPTS TO INVOLVE THE COURTS IN ISSUES OF PRISONERS RIGHTS ARE ALSO DISCUSSED.
