Abstract
A DISCUSSION OF THE MYTHS SURROUNDING THE CRIME IS FOLLOWED BY CONSIDERATION OF THE VARIOUS TYPES OF MOTIVATION COMMON TO RAPISTS, THE STRATEGIES AND BEHAVIOR PATTERNS WHICH RAPISTS UTILIZE, AND THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECT OF RAPE UPON THE VICTIM. ALSO COVERED ARE THE ATTITUDE OF SOCIETY AND THE COURT TOWARD THE VICTIM, CONTEMPORARY IMPROVEMENTS TO EXISTING LAWS, AND PRECAUTIONS, PREVENTIONS, AND SELF-DEFENSE TACTICS WHICH WOMEN SHOULD UTILIZE AGAINST THE RAPE THREAT.
