Two studies on the causes and consequences of reporting, or not reporting, a rape were conducted.
Abstract
In the first study 400 potential victims from four ethnic communities (100 each Anglo, Asian-American, Black and Hispanic) were interviewed regarding intention to report, if raped. Replies varied according to ethnic identity. In the second study 179 rape victims who did or did not report the crime were interviewed. Actual outcomes experienced following the decision to report or not report are discussed. (NTIS abstract)
