INTENDED FOR WOMEN OF ALL AGES, THIS FILM DESCRIBES AND DEMONSTRATES THE SELF DEFENSE TECHNIQUES AVAILABLE TO EVERY WOMAN AND STRESSES THAT WOMEN SHOULD BE PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY PREPARED TO WARD OFF AN ATTACKER.
Abstract
THE ROLE THAT ATTITUDES MAY PLAY IN A WOMAN'S SELF DEFENSE CAPABILITY IS DESCRIBED. IT IS EMPHASIZED THAT WOMEN SHOULD HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THEIR OWN STRENGTH, AND SHOULD NOT BE AFRAID TO BE PHYSICALLY AGGRESSIVE IN DEFENDING THEMSELVES FROM ATTACK. SEVERAL BASIC SELF DEFENSE TECHNIQUES ARE DEMONSTRATED IN A CLASSROOM SITUATION. TO STRESS THE EASE AND AVAILABILITY OF THESE TECHNIQUES, SEVERAL SCENES OF EVERYDAY ACTIVITIES WHICH INCORPORATE BASIC SELF DEFENSE MOVEMENTS ARE PRESENTED. FOR EXAMPLE, A YOUNG WOMAN IS SHOWN YELLING LOUDLY AFTER HURTING HERSELF, TO INDICATE THAT SHOUTING MAY BE USED FOR DEFENSE. THE PICTURE CONCLUDES WITH A SIMULATED ATTACK SITUATION IN WHICH A YOUNG WOMAN, USING BASIC SELF DEFENSE METHODS, ESCAPES FROM TWO ASSAILANTS.
