This article briefly describes the police equipment that has been developed by Rapid Assault Tools (Ratools), a New Hampshire-based company that has constructed what may prove to be a convenient and viable system for carrying breaching equipment (equipment to use in breaching locked doors or other barriers) during a tactical operation.
Abstract
The tools--which include a halligan, sledge, bolt cutter, and a ram--can be easily carried through or over any obstacle that a tactical officer may encounter in the course of an operation. Included in Ratools product offerings are such diverse items as manual and hydraulic tools, as well as tools designed to enhance the safety of officers before the breach even occurs. The specifications of particular equipment items are described in this article. Each of Ratools products can be carried in the Model XK-BP, which is a well-made backpack explicitly designed for Ratools by the London Bridge Trading Co., which makes some of the finest nylon tactical gear on the market. Having a backpack that enables all types of breaching tools to be carried by a member of the tactical team prevents having to make multiple trips back to a vehicle in order to obtain equipment needed to breach unexpected or unknown barriers. This article describes how Ratool equipment and carrying bags have improved the efficiency and effectiveness of actual police field operations.
