Participants in a program in Oregon State Hospital aimed at rehabilitating sex offenders discuss their feelings about their crime in a film that describes a variety of treatment methods for sex offenders.
Abstract
These methods include aversion therapy, intended to turn off the men's appetite for brutality by showing them pornography, and upon their arousal, giving them negative reinforcement; confrontation with former victims to force them to come to grips with the pain they have inflicted; and drug therapy to reduce sexual desire. An audiotape of a sexual attack in progress is also used with some offenders as a method to break through detachment and help the offender realize the victim's trauma. Several of the offenders talk about their feelings before, during, and after committing their crimes and talk about motivation.
