This codebook presents the questionnaire and the coding used in a 1977 survey of citizen reactions to crime in Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.
Abstract
A total of 5,121 interviews were completed. Respondents were asked for self-reports of events and conditions in their home areas, their use of the media, their perceptions about crime in their communities, and what they had done to reduce their chances of being victimized. Some questions focused specifically on sexual assault. Explanations of the information for a typical variable in the machine-readable codebook are included.
