Abstract
HE REPORTS ON THE METHODS OF OPERATING PRISON LIBRARIES AND DISTRIBUTING BOOKS IN THE VARIOUS TYPES OF INSTITUTIONS, AS WELL AS ON THE BOOK SELECTION CRITERIA. SURVEYS HAVE ESTIMATED THAT NINETY PERCENT OF THE PRISON POPULATION IN FRANCE USE THE LIBRARY SERVICES, THAT ABOUT FIFTY PERCENT OF THE READERS SPEND AT LEAST TWO HOURS A DAY READING, AND THAT ABOUT THE SAME PROPORTION READ AN AVERAGE OF THREE BOOKS PER WEEK. --IN FRENCH
