STATISTICAL STUDY OF 519 RECEIVERS OF STOLEN GOODS CONVICTED IN NORWAY, IN 1967 AND 1968, WITH DISCUSSION OF THE PROVISIONS OF NORWEGIAN, DANISH, SWEDISH AND FINNISH LAW CONCERNING THIS OFFENSE.
Abstract
STATISTICAL INFORMATION IS PROVIDED ON HOW THE GOODS WERE RECEIVED, THE RECEIVER'S RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PERSON FROM WHOM HE RECEIVED THE GOODS, WHERE THE EXCHANGE TOOK PLACE, AND THE VALUE OF THE GOODS. STATISTICAL INFORMATION IS ALSO INCLUDED ON THE AGE, SEX, MARITAL STATUS, PLACE OF RESIDENCE, ETC., OF THE RECEIVERS OF STOLEN GOODS. THE AUTHOR CONCLUDES THAT A GREAT DEAL OF UNREPORTED CRIME MUST EXIST IN THIS FIELD SINCE THE TOTAL VALUE OF ARTICLES REPORTED STOLEN FAR EXCEEDS THAT OF ARTICLES IN REPORTED CASES OF RECEIVING STOLEN GOODS. HE ADVOCATES MORE SEVERE SANCTIONS IN NORWAY AGAINST THE MORE SERIOUS FORMS OF NEGLIGENT RECEIVING OF STOLEN GOODS AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. --IN NORWEGIAN
