COMPARISON OF THE METHODOLOGY AND RESULTS REACHED BY WILKINS, WHO IS PRO-CORPORAL PUNISHMENT FOR PRISONERS. AND MURTON, WHO IS AGAINST IT.
Abstract
WILKINS BELIEVES THAT MORAL JUDGMENT MUST BE SUSPENDED UNTIL SCIENTIFIC EXAMINATION CAN DETERMINE WHETHER THE MEANS - FLOGGING - JUSTIFIES THE END - REHABILITATION. MURTON, WITH HIS PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE AT THE ARKANSAS PRISON FARMS, BELIEVES THAT ALL FORMS OF ABUSE ARE INTRINSICALLY WRONG.
