Abstract
DATA WERE GATHERED THROUGH DIRECT OBSERVATION OF JAILS IN THE FIVE-COUNTY AREA, FROM QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS, REVIEW OF PERTINENT RECORDS AND DOCUMENTS, ANALYSIS OF STATISTICAL DATA, AND PERSONAL INTERVIEWS. THE REPORT DESCRIBES THE CURRENT CONDITIONS OF THE ELEVEN JAILS IN THE AREA AND PRESENTS INFORMATION CONCERNING THE NUMBER OF BEDS AND INMATES. THE FUNCTIONS OF A REGIONAL JAIL ARE DELINEATED. METHODS OF OBTAINING FUNDING ARE DISCUSSED.
