This document presents the report of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption on its fourth session, held from October 24-28, 2011, in Marrakech, Morocco.
Abstract
This report from the fourth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption held in Morocco October 2011, contains 10 primary sections. The first section lists six resolutions and two decision adopted by the Conference. The resolutions include a mechanism for review of implementation of the U.N. Convention against Corruption, the convening of open-ended intergovernmental expert meetings to enhance international cooperation, the Marrakech declaration on the prevention of corruption, international participation in asset recovery, participation of signatories, non-signatories, entities, and intergovernmental organizations in the work of the Implementation Review Group, and non-governmental organizations and the mechanism for the review of implementation of the U.N. Convention against Corruption. The decisions concern venues for the upcoming sixth and seventh sessions of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption. Section II of the report is the introduction to the session while section III lists the organization of the different parts of the session. Section IV presents a review of the implementation of the Convention that was conducted during the October 2011 session, while sections V, VI, and VII contains discussions surrounding specific agenda items, namely technical assistance, prevention, and asset recovery. Section VIII presents other issues discussed during the session, while section IX presents the provisional agenda for the fifth session of the Conference and section X is the adoption of the report of the Conference on its fourth session.
