Based on data from Oregon's Uniform Crime Reporting Program, this report presents statistics on reported crimes and arrests during 1994.
Abstract
Crime in Oregon increased 7.7 percent from 1993 to 1994. Crime increased in 31 of Oregon's 36 counties. The five counties with 59.6 percent of the State's population reported 60.3 percent of the total crime and 64.5 percent of the crimes against persons. Increases were reported in willful homicide, negligent homicide, robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault. Decreases were reported in rape, other sex offenses, kidnapping, and bank robberies. Increases occurred in burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, arson, forgery/counterfeiting, fraud, embezzlement, stolen property offenses, and vandalism. The total number of arrests increased 14 percent. The increase in arrests of juveniles occurred in most areas of the State. The increase in arrests of adults involved all crime categories.
