Abstract
The numbers of violent crimes, felonies, and less serious offenses all showed similar decreases. These statistics cover crimes against the State and mankind, personal crimes, traffic crimes, crimes related to the family, public order offenses, economic crimes, property crimes, and offenses related to the non-performance of national defense liabilities. There were 2,906 foreign offenders committing crimes in Hungary in 1993, an increase of 14 percent over the previous year. The proportions of juvenile and young adult offenders within the offending population remained constant. During the reporting period, police authorities concluded 5 percent fewer proceedings and initiated 4 percent fewer proceedings than in the first half of 1992. 19 figures
