This three-part lesson plan on report writing includes a trainer's manual, a participant's workbook, and a set of overhead transparencies for use in class presentations.
Abstract
Developed by the American Correctional Association, the lesson plan is designed for use in training corrections and juvenile system employees. The Trainer's Manual includes a script with complete directions for presenting a workshop on report writing. It offers suggestions on how to lecture, conduct group sessions, and use visual aids. The Participant's Workbook identifies workshop objectives and provides a note-taking outline of each lesson plan section. Lesson plan modules focus on report objectives, common errors, jargon and acronyms, and report writing styles. Procedures for conducting both large and small group discussions are described. The importance of clear, concise, and correct report writing is emphasized. Tips on establishing rapport, making eye contact and gestures, and selecting appropriate training aids are offered. Sample reports and exercises are included, as well as overhead transparencies for use in class presentations. 5 references
