Abstract
The author, a crime reporter for the Miami Herald, agreed to take actor Kurt Russell with her on assignment as he prepared for a forthcoming movie role. At the scene of a double murder, the presence of Russell completely caught the attention of the gathering spectators and potential witnesses. Even the local television news crew abandoned their murder story and followed the star, clamoring for an interview. A similar incident occurred later, when co-star Mariel Hemingway and he were shooting a scene on the beach. Nearby, a real-life murder was unfolding in which a man, disguised as a policeman, murdered a young man and raped his date. The girl was largely consoled when she was able to meet Russell.
