This Judicial Conference report documents the work of 35 committees and offices represented at the conference.
Abstract
These reports cover judicial compensation and insurance, use of court space, fee schedules, Federal magistrates' salaries and selection, budgets and finances, and other administrative subjects. Reports were also given on the operation of the jury system, intercircuit assignments, the United States Marshals Service, the jurisdiction of claims by the Cherokee Nation, judicial ethics, admission of attorneys to Federal practice, and implementation of the Criminal Justice Act. The pretermission of terms of the Courts of Appeal are noted, as well as conference elections and resolutions and the appointment of several ad hoc committees. There is an analysis of the Federal courts' workload for the 12-month period ending June 30, 1981. Tables, graphs, and appended statistical data are provided.
