Abstract
Committee reports examine the judicial branch, court administration, budgeting, ethics, court rules and procedures, probation system, bankruptcy system, Federal magistrates system, criminal law, personnel selection, and implementation of the Criminal Justice Act (CJA). An annual report summarizes the business of the courts and of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. Covered are judicial business, administration, and appropriations and expenditures. A statistical analysis of the workload of the Federal courts provides data on criminal and civil cases in the various courts, as well as on the Federal probation system, and pretrial services. Finally, appended tables provide detailed data on U.S. Supreme, appeal, district, bankruptcy, magistrates, and other Federal court caseloads and case processing. Additional tables present information on probation and pretrial services, grand and petit juries, Federal defender organizations, and judgeships. Payments under the CJA for fiscal 1984 also are summarized.
